An 8 mile walk along the Navigation and Thames, from Byfleet & New Haw to Molesey. Just a half-hour of sunshine before it all clouded over. After the walk, onwards to L’s and to see the kids come out of school. A mad, last-minute dash for the train – I really shouldn’t be running at my age!

A walk up Boxhill with the kites and the kids followed by a delicious, late lunch at the Grumpy Mole at Brockham. What a great day!

A 6-mile hike centered on Polesden Lacey with J, our son and his girlfriend who are over from Berlin, followed by a visit to our grandkids, and then a movie in the evening. What a full day!

Monday, 1st November, 2021

A lovely, autumnal day deserved a walk to Polesden Lacey, so a rush to get the hourly train to Westhumble was rewarded with a fine few hours of walking, a huge slice of coffee cake and a book from the second-hand bookshop. Bravo, Polesden Lacey!

Atrocious weather this morning but the sun came out before more downpours. Finished reading All Among The Barley, by Melissa Harrison, a wonderful tale about rural life in the 1930s. My next read is about football! Late afternoon and a Halloween dinner with the family followed by a game of Ludo.

The Times on Saturday, day! And it’s also a match day! Sadly a grim 0-1 defeat. That’s consecutive, grim, home-game defeats. Another one and I may have to have a rethink. My chess opponent took my queen whilst I was at the match! But now I’ve taken his!! Mixed feelings about Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods on Netflix (better than watching the appalling Strictly).

Kick off!

I have the house to myself. I’m reading The Times and playing Pinback – loud. I’m hooked on the track BBtone, which really benefits from playing loud.
My son sent me the link to the Talkradio video – short and brilliant! Bravo, young man!!

This is an experimental page…….
Just a flu jab to look forward to this afternoon, but in the meantime I made a move via WhatsApp in my second chess game with a human, having lost the first when we played face to face. I suspect I’ll always be on the back foot against my opponent!
I’m tinkering with (simplifying) the website home page. Again!
I enjoyed a late night watching The Town, on Netflix.

Have your say! (No need for any ID!)
