Matlock is a charming town in Derbyshire, with a splendid park right in the centre and Matlock Town football club next to the park. The park was a hive of activity when I was there; a boating lake, putting green, crown green bowls and skateboard ramps were all in use despite the overcast, chilly day.
There is an excellent Oxfam bookshop where I bought 4 second-hand books including, for a very modest £4, a very heavy (in weight) hardback called Codes and Ciphers!
