Edward St Aubyn’s Never Mind is the first of the Patrick Melrose novels. The book has one sympathetic character – Patrick Melrose as a boy. Everyone else, his family and their friends, are obnoxious, upper-class twits. For all the praise heaped upon the author and the novels, I found this book unenjoyable.
