A day trip to the Isle of Wight
A trip involving a couple of hours on a couple of trains allows for some quality reading time. On arrival in Southampton there’s a brisk walk to the ferry port to catch the noon boat to Cowes on the Isle of Wight. An hour on the outside decks is just the right length of time to enjoy the views and spot the boats.
A stroll along the promenade, a sandwich on the beach followed by browsing the small independent Medina Bookshop resulted in two books bought. What with the delays in the return journey it was a long day, not getting back home until after 9. But what a lovely day and well worth the effort!
