The second stage of the 4-stage walk along the Itchen Way was 8 or so miles and took a little under 4 hours. Starting at Eastleigh / Bishopstoke, where the first stage finished, and ending at the city of Winchester, it was a lovely, sunny day and a stunningly beautiful walk.

I saw some large houses with long gardens down to the river; a small herd of alpacas; lots of glittering river water; two attractive bikini-clad girls swimming in the river (a picture would have been inappropriate!). A detour to climb St Catherine’s Hill near Winchester was hard work. Tea and cake in the Winchester Cathedral café was a welcome ending to the walk before catching the train home. A wonderful day.

The image at the top is my favourite from the day, taken just before entering Winchester. The rest of the images follow below.
